Raw Thai Lettuce Wraps

Hello Everyone,

This post today comes from the Cafe part of Fairy Cafe and Gardens. I love foods from most parts of the world. I have travelled around the world and I myself have mixed blood and I love ethnic foods the best. Something about eating foods from all parts of the world which makes me feel like I have longer arms or bigger eyes or some preternatural advantage of some kind.....like I've been opened up, like millions of petals, to such a diversity and variety that the entire concept of foods and eating has become an infinite source of choices which are limited only by my own imagination.....and we can't have that, can we! :D

Today I have a beautiful recipe, I did not conjure up, but soooo glad someone did, and it is a gorgeous raw version with NO sacrifice to taste, of the famous Thai Lettuce Wraps, which are usually made with pork, shrimp, or some meat, but it doesn't need it, and you won't miss it. Even my housemate can't stop saying ''love those flavors!"....today I made them again and I decided to also make a dipping sauce which it doesn't need, but I do love decadence. I made up my own using some basics, but I find it drowns out the flavors of the Wraps, so again it doesn't need it, but wow! Also I thought this would be a 'lite' dish, but it is quite filling. I have no cravings to eat for hours after only 3 of them....or is it 4 ? :D

But to begin with these I will keep it simple as it is in the video.

I love how easy they are, everything goes into one food processor, and all the ingredients are delicious. I added galangal, a perfumy type of Asian ginger, and some lemongrass because I grow it and these are common Thai flavors. But you can use whatever you have also. Like today I didn't have enough walnuts so I used pecans and it worked just fine. Next time I will use the sunflower seeds I have too.
The presentation of this dish is beautiful simply because of the bed of this meal being the fresh green of lettuces which are the wrap. You too can look like a chef!

The recipe is from Diana Stobo who is one of my latest inspirations, and this woman can make darn good foods and they are all raw, which means they are alive and health promoting.

Here is the recipe in this quick video from her:

Here are my pics of my own. These wraps also do well refrigerated and eaten the next day.....

 Enjoy!

    3. oh the sauce, was quite a venture, it was all taste and go based on 3 ingredients I should have measured out first....but I think a simple one of nama shoyu, lime juice, ginger and garlic with a bit of honey would do nicely. I had to add too many things to make it palatable in the end and it turned out to have too many ingredients, I kept adding stuff until it was right. I don't recommend that lolol.....but google ''asian dipping sauce'' and you will find something you like. I just hate measurements, lol

  2. Gosh, you left such a nice comment on my "Grey" post! Such a nice compliment. So nice to know that you stopped by. The lettuce wraps look fantastic. I do love them with meat, but you are right. It's all about the flavors. And I love nuts in things. Looks like a lovely recipe.

    1. It Is a lovely recipe, surprisingly so. Even John, who thinks he needs meat in most dishes, couldn't stop talking bout loving the flavors and I found it quite filling and satisfying, must be the nuts.
